bye, bye, aphrodite

baby steps! although minorly tragic obliterating the greek lounge gods + goddesses, we didn't quite think it would work with the speesees theme (if only we were an olive oil company!). + so, down went aphrodite. in an effort to keep the space open + modern, we painted the walls with (no voc) pratt + lambert's 'fig', our columns a true white, + our floors 'chocolate brown'. from here, we will begin to discriminately decorate with both modern + vintage, bought + found, + of course, homemade. we will feature speesees clothing, accessories, bedroom products (bedding! pillows! blankies! swaddles! wall prints!), as well as our teething toys + speesees friends. lastly, rachel (that's me) will have a little workshop + will be (at long last!) introducing artypea/pathological optimist/luciland products (storybooks, coloring books, paintings, buttons, kids + grown-up tees).

wallpapering with christiana

my friend + wallpaper wizard, christiana coop, came by yesterday eve to help put up wallpaper in the new speesees space. alas, no small task! four hours + a whole vat of wallpaper glue later, we managed to finish applying 'king flower', many thanks to christiana's expertise + my sleepy enthusiasm. i too may be becoming a wallpaper addict. next is the baby's bedroom. thank you, christiana!

moving to #252

i am gathering the troops + moving down the hall to #252, bidding our spaces #342 + #219 farewell. #252 is bigger + brighter, + will feature a retail store in the front, as well as a community creative space + gallery for children. we are excited to share it with you. stay tuned.

our friend + rep stephanie models the reversible corduroy bonnet for grown-ups (on sale). yay.

freeze hop!

our friend bodhi made the most out of his 'hop' teething toy during a speesees visit/fitting (he's a model) recently. the next day, his brilliant mom wesley gave us a very smart tip:: putting the teething toys in the freezer makes them cool + soothing teething treats for aching baby gums! oh, those were the days...
